Mr J. L. Johnston will leave for Wellington this morning. Mr Keith Ramsay left by the first express yesterday morning for Christchurch. Mr H. W. Milner, organiser of the New Zealand Alliance, arrived in Dunedin from Oamaru last evening.
The members of the Industrial Manpower Appeal Committee—Messrs M. W, Grantham (chairman), H. H. Gillard, and W B. Richards—accompanied by the secretary, Mr J. C. Bates, will leave to-mor-row morning for Invercargill. They will return on Friday night. At the meeting of the council of the Otago University yesterday the chancellor (Mr W. J. Morrell) and Dr R. J. T. Bell were appointed to represent the University at a conference of university colleges to be held in Wellington on Saturday, November 27. Congratulations on his appointment as commissioner for the National Patriotic Fund Board in the Middle East, relieving Colonel F. Waite, were extended to Brigadier A. S. Falconer by the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) at the monthly meeting cf the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday afternoon.
Passengers who left for the north by (he airliner yesterday were Mr W. G. V. Fernie, Mr C. Mackay, and Mr E. C. S. Falconer for Christchurch, Mr H. T. Speight, Mr R. C. Greensladc, Mr G. J. Williamson, Mr H. H. Sykes, and Lieutenant-colonel and Mrs Yendell for Wellington, and Mrs L. White for Auckland. Passengers who arrived by the afternoon plane were Sergeant W. D. Weymouth, Mr R. de Lautour, and Mr I-I H Fow from Auckland, Mrs W. A, Stewart, Mrs L. Moss, Mr A. I-I. Sutherland and Mr L. Moss from Wellington, Mr A E. Greensmith, Mr M. Henderson, and Mr J. S. Fletcher from Christchurch.
