RESCUE FROM FIRE

WOMAN IN BLAZING HOUSE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 15. A woman was rescued through the window of a burning house in Calliope road, Devonport, early this morning when the house was razed by fire. She was Mrs E. Edwards, housekeeper, whose cries were heard by the occupier of the house, Mr F. East, after he had been awakened by the sound of falling timber. Mr East found the interior of the house full of flames and. after trying unsuccessfully to reach Mrs Edwards’s bedroom, rushed outside and climbed through her window. She had collapsed. but he got her out through the window. She was taken to hospital.
