BADOGLIO'S DILEMMA
MUSSOLINI WARNS CATHOLICS (Rec. 8.45 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 14. Marshal Badoglio has organised a “technical” Government, consisting of himself as Prime Minister and a number of under-secretaries and experts, says Reuter’s correspondent in Southern Italy. This makeshift move has obviously been forced upon him by the flat refusal of members of the antiFascist political parties, led by Count Sforza, to join the Government as long as King Victor Emmanuel remains on the throne.
According to Berlin radio, Signor Mussolini’s Fascist Government has warned the Roman Catholic Church that the fundamental principles of the Fascist faith must be recognised. Any political interference from the clergy and any attitude contradictory to the national interests will be suppressed. It is the duty of the clergy to oppose any Bolshevist tendencies. An internal front, which is strong politically as well as religiously, must be formed to fight enemy propaganda.
