Newborough Mothers* Union.—Archdeacon Russell took the opening service at the October meeting of the Newborough Mothers’ Union, and formally received Mrs Naish, from Waimate, and Mrs Tonks, from Westport, as members of the Newborough branch. The Rev. A W. Stace gave an inspiring address on the 23rd Psalm. Mrs W. B. Turvey presided at the meeting. Sympathy was expressed with the president (Mrs MacIntyre) in her illness. It was # arranged to hold a flower service at the November meeting. Mrs Stace presided at the organ. ... , Social to Spldier Many residents and friends attended the complimentary social held in honour of Private W. McEwen, in the Awamoko Hall. Mr R. Ledingham and Mr C. Harman spoke of the guest’s many good qualities, and extended best wishes to’ him. Private McEwan was presented with a wallet and notes.
