INVASION CHIEF
WESTERN EUROPE THEATRE GENERAL MARSHALL’S PLANS WASHINGTON, (Rec. 0.30 a.m.) Oct. 24. General Marshall will not leave Washington for several months on the voyage to Britain to head the Allied forces invading western Europe, says the Army and Navy Register. This is in accordance with the disclosures that the projected movement of forces from the British Isles to the lowlands of France will not be undertaken until the spring or early summer. The Register points out that the delay in naming General Marshall’s new duties does not mean that the plan to send him to Europe has been discarded. Informed circles are confident that the plan will be carried out. It is improbable that the decision will be reversed or materially modified.
