SHIPMENT REACHES DUNEDIN NEW ZEALAND LEMONS PLENTIFUL A shipment of Australian Valencia oranges reached the market at the weekend. There were approximately 2000 cases for the local market, and supplies had to be strictly rationed to retailers. New Zealand lemons are in heavy supplv and are reaching the market in very poor condition. Most of them have to be repacked before sale. Bananas are sold out of the marts, and there is no advice as to when the next shipment will come to hand. Supplies of hothouse tomatoes from Canterbury and Blenheim are increasing, and the market has an easier tendency. Hothouse cucumbers are now coming forward, with very high prices ruling. Asparagus is offering in small lots only. Apples are stfil being rationed to retailers, the bulk of the supplies being Sturmers and Delicious Pears are finished for the season. Reports from Central Otago Indicate that the stone fruit season is from three to four weeks later than was the case last year. There has, however, been an absence of heavy frosts, and the crons are reported to be looking particularly well, with the exception of some varieties of apricots, which have been affected in the blossom stage by the continuous damp weather ... Cauliflowers are in .short suoply. with very high prices ruling. Spring cabbage, carrots, and parsnips find a ready sale at ceiling prices.
