MEDITERRANEAN CONVOY GERMANS USE GLIDER BOMBS (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 2. Dorniers equipped with the new radio-controlled glider bombs participated in a formidable attack on an Allied convoy off the North African coast. Torpedo-carrying Heinkels made up the rest of 25 attacking bombers. French pilots of the coastal air force completely broke up the attack, shooting down at least three planes and severely damaging four. ■ The Germans claimed that they seriously damaged eight large ships, but R.A.F. Headquarters stated that nothing like that number were damaged.
