Anthem: "Hail. Gladdening Light (Shaw). UNITED CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH Albany street Rev KENNETH A BELL 11 a.m.: "THE ETERNAL GOD.” 6.30 p.m.: THE LORD’S PRAYER. No. 2: "GOD'S DWELLING PLACE.” She of word God frutK “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF. FOR CORRECTION. FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS” (2 Tim. 3:16). Many people believe that the Old Testament Scriptures are obsolete, having been superseded by the New. This is quite erroneous. When the Apostle Paul penned the words quoted above he referred particularly to the only Scriptures then in existence' The Old Testament Scriptures. The Apostle Peter styled the writers of the Old Testament " Hoiy men °f God who spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). They cenamly consistently claimed to write the Word of the Lord” (e.g., 2 Sam. 23:2, Isa 1.10, Jer. 1:2. Ezek. 1.3. Hosea 1:1. Joel 1.1. Micah 1:1. Zsph. 1:1. Zech. 1:1. Mai. 1.1. Matt. 1:22. Matt. 2:15. Luke 1:70, Acts 3:18, Acts 4:25. James 5:10). When Jesus Christ came He made it perfectly' clear that He accepted the writings of the Old Testament as the inspired and infallible Word of God (see John 5:46-47. Luke 24:25-27. Luke 24:44-45, Matt. 22:29. Mark 14:49, John 5:39, John 10:35). Likewise the Apostle Paul who in teaching that ah Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16) logically said that he believed “ all things written in the Law and in the Prophets ” (Acts 24:14, see also Acts 26:22, Acts 28:23, Acts 17:2). It is very important to understand the foregoing for no person can be saved unless he believes the Gospel (Mark 16:16, Roms. 1:16. 1 Cor. 15T-2) The Gospel is defined in Acts 8:12 and Acts 28:30-31 as " The things concerning the Kingdom of God and uv Name of Jesus Christ.” These things of the Kingdom and Name can be found only bv searching the Scriptures, not the Old Testament Scriptures only, but ALL THE SCRIPTURES, both Old and New Testament. Reader, you will be greatly assisted in your search for " The things concerning the Kingdom of God and the Name of Jesus Christ” by reading the book " CHRISTENDOM ASTRAY.” A copy will be sent free on application to “BIBLE TRUTH,” Box 857, Dunedin.
