FORTRESSES SHOT DOWN
.FLYING OVER SWITZERLAND (Rec.. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 2. The Swiss radio says it is officially announced that four American Fortresses were shot down yesterday. They were flying over Swiss territory after raiding the Weiner Neustadt area. German fighters pursued and engaged them, and Swiss anti-aircraft guns opened up. Some .of the Fortress crews escaped by parachute.
