FIJI DEFENCE FORCES

A CHANGE OF COMMAND (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept, 29. The Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, announced to-day that Brigadier G. Dittmer has taken over command of the Fiji defence forces from Brigadier J. C. C. Wales, who is returning to New Zealand. Brigadier Dittmer, with the rank of colonel, was the first commander of the Maori Battalion serving in the Middle East. He returned to the Dominion following the campaigns in Greece and Crete.
