POLLING DAY
OTAGO DAILY TIMES SERVICE SCREEN AND BROADCAST The declaration of results, which in the past has gathered large crowds in front of the Otago Daily Times premises, will again be a feature of election night. From approximately 7.45 to 11 p.m. on Saturday general election and licensing poll results as received from all parts of the Dominion, photographs of candidates, and other pictures of interest will be displayed by lantern on a large screen, and by the courtesy of the National Broadcasting authorities 4YA’s complete service will be amplified through a sound system for the benefit of the crowd. Local candidates have been invited to address the public from the Otago Daily Times balcony. Owing to prevailing conditions the provision of the usual hoarding has not been practicable, but full details will be available on the screen and over the radio. The office will not be open to the public, and as the lines will be fully occupied results cannot be given over the telephone.
