Many varied excuses are put forward by cyclists who ride at night without lights, but a new one was given recently in the Magistrate's Court in Christchurch. Caught by a traffic inspector without a light, although there was a generator lamp on the cycle, a defendant said that he was not using the light because the bicycle was too hard to push with the generator in action.
