ROXBURGH

Social Afternoon. —On Wednesday last an afternoon was given by the P.W.M.U and Ladies’ Guild of the Presbyterian Church to all the next-of-kin of soldiers of the Roxburgh district. There were 100 guests present, who were welcomed by Mrs W. S. Craig, president of the Ladies' Guild, and Mrs D. Heggie, president of the P.W.M.U. The afternoon proved a very enjoyable one. Extracts from soldiers and airmen’s letters were read, and items were given by Mrs Line and Miss Lexie Craig (solos), Mrs W. J. Henderson and Miss Ngaire Vernon (duet), and Master B. Sfierlaw (solos). The accompaniments were played by Miss O. Gordon and Mrs B. M. Jeffery.
