NAZIS WORRIED
EFFECTS OF AIR RAIDS COUNTER-ATTACKS PROMISED (Rec. 9 p.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 14. “We do not deny that the enemy air terror is adding many worries to those we have already,” said Dr Goebbels in his weekly article, which now appears in the Voelkischer Beobachter instead of Das Reich. “We, for the time being, can oppose air raids only by military and civil defence measures. Mass counterattacks will be added later. Till then we must stick it, and there is none among us who doubts that this is possible. If we can manage to parry the enemy’s repeated terror raids and keep civilian casualties within bearable limits, we shall be able to bridge the time to the moment when we can take more practical measures against this arrogant enemy. We mean to behave in this war in such a way that when it ends we shall have nothing to admire in the enemy that we have not done ourselves. “The Russians,” the article added, “staked high hopes on their offensive, none of which so far has geen granted, and none of which will presumably be fulfilled in the future.” The correspondent of The Times on the German frontier says that the Reich Dwelling House Commissar has decreed that all homes built during the war must be of one design to save materials and costs. The chief building material will be heavy reinforced concrete. ______
