CANDIDATE FOR HURUNUI

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug, 8. Subject to the approval of the Dominion Council, the National Party candidate for the Hurunui seat will be Mr W. H. Gillespie. a farmer, of Bennetts. The selection was made at a meeting at Rangiora as the result of the retirement of Mr G. W. Forbes, who has held the seat for 35 vears. The seven nominations received included Mr M. E. Lyons, the National candidate at the recent Christchurch East by-election, and Captain Richard Bethell, who is serving in the Middle East. Mr Gillespie served overseas in the last war. He is a member of the Oxford County Council, and is the Oxford Home Guard commander.
