AEROPLANE SMASH
SEVERAL PEOPLE KILLED (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 6. Fourteen persons, apart from the crew, were killed when an R.A.F. plane crashed during exercises at Winslow. The plane struck a tree, bounced off the roof of a house, wrecked a public house on the opposite side of the street, and then ploughed into and set fire to some cottages. The licensee of the .public house was killed as well as members of five families in the cottages.
