NEW SECRET WEAPON
LONDON, Aug. 6. The German authorities are greatly publicising a new secret weapon which “ will bring victory to the nation, which is to-day experiencing a critical phase,” reports the Berlin correspondent of the Madrid newspaper Ariba. The weapon is already being produced, and should be in mass production in November. The authorities claim: “It is certain to cause the annihilation of the enemy. Even the mortal effect of gas will not compare with the devastating effects of this weapon, which is not a bomb. It will help Germany to dislodge the British and Americans from their present positions and will roll up Russia. The weapon is quite inconceivable to the human mind, and the enemy will not have any defence. He will be able only to die,' surrender, or perhaps be wiped off the face of the earth.”
