PRISONERS OF WAR
BAN ON CIVILIAN CLOTHING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 7. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office has issued a further warning to next-of-kin not to include in their parcels anything savouring of civilian clothing. Such articles are liable to confiscation, and the evidence increases that the regulations are being enforced. Acknowledgment cards received in London from prisoners mention that such clothing is confiscated. On March 31, the International Red Cross Committee had 73 permanent delegates, 25 in Europe, 17 in Africa, 17 in Asia, 12 in America, 2 in Australia, and 1 in New Zealand, In addition there were temporary missions in various countries. The inquiry office is asking for copies of recent letters received from Stalag VIII V.
