NURSES AT SEACLIFF

NEW KITCHEN ACCOMMODATION (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON,,Aug. 6. The condition of the living quarters of the nursing staff of the Seacliff Mental Hospital was mentioned by Mrs W. J. Poison (Oppn., Mid-Canter-bury) during the discussion on the Estimates in the House of Representatives to-day. She asked if, in view of the Government’s proposal to remove the hospital to another site, it was intended to improve the nurses’ quarters, particularly the kitchen accommodation, which was anything but what it should be. In reply, the Minister of Health, Mr A H. Nordmeyer, said the whole question of transferring the Seacliff Hospital elsewhere was being investigated by the authorities. Notwithstanding the Governments intention to remove the hospital, however,; he had given instructions that a kitchen for the nurses vfts to be built. This would have been done before this but for the difficulty in obtaining materials.
