TEN-MONTHS-OLD BABY

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 16. Awakened by screams from their 10-months-old baby, Mr and Mrs E. V. Edwards,’ of Oriental Parade, found the child bleeding from wounds on the hand and face. It had been savagely attacked by a rat. The fingers of the left hand ’had been bitten almost to the bone, and there were lesser bites round the left eye. The baby is being treated at the hospital, where a doctor, stated that the child was fortunate not to have lost the fingers of fhe left hand. The rat’s teeth marks were clearly defined.
