MOSGIEL VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE
The thirty-seventh annual meeting of tire Mosgiel Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in the Brigade Hall last night. Superintendent J. White presided and supporters of the brigade, including representatives of the Borough Council and the Dunedin Fire Brigade, were present. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted and officers for the ensuing season were, elected. / . „ The chairman, moving the adoption 01 the report and balance sheet, spoke of two outstanding items in the year’s activities. A picture entertainment had realised £29 Is 7d and a ball organised for patriotic purposes had raised £37 17s 9d The plant was in good working order, but owing to the poor distribution of water in the borough, especially in the back streets, it was felt that ■ a trailer pump attached to the local brigade was essential for the safety of the borough from fire. On behalf of the brigade he expressed thanks to the Metropolitan Fire Board and to Superintendent F. C. Laldlaw for their consideration in the matter of supplies. The Borough Council ana staff and all the officers and men, he added, had shown a fine spirit of co-op-eration in the work of the brigade. At an interval in the proceedings service honours were presented to the following: Senior Foreman H. Smith, Fireman J. Wishart., Fireman L. Scurr, Motorman R. Campbell, and Branchman J. Craigie. At the close of the business an enjoyable social hour followed. Supper was served and appropriate toasts were honoured. •
