INDEPENDENT FOR KAIPARA

(P.A.) DARGAVILLE, July 15. At a representative meeting of electors last evening Mr P. McG. Stewart (Ruawi) and Mr Rodney Coates. (Matakohe) were nominated as Independent candidates to represent Kaipara in the coming election. A vote taken after the nominees had addressed the meeting resulted in Mr Stewart’s favour by two to one. In the last election Mr Stewart opposed the late Mr Coates in the Labour interests, polling 3725 votes. He will be given an absolutely free hand. On Saturday, at Paparoa, a selection will be made of a candidate to contest the election as an Independent Nationalist.
