PAMPHLETS DROPPED

INVASION PRELUDE WASHINGTON, (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) July 11. The Office of War Information disclosed that the invasion was preceded by the dropping of millions of pamphlets and special broadcasts designed to break the Sicilians’ morale. A group of their own representatives accompanied the invading armies to conduct psychological warfare. The Office of War Information said that the next step would be the release of pamphlets urging the enemy soldiers to surrender.
