NAZI TERRORISM INCREASING THOUSANDS OF MURDERS (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 31. From many parts of Europe comes evidence that the German leaders are driving forward the campaign against Jews with even greater ferocity and more and more widely than before. The Times diplomatic correspondent says anti-Jewish measures are spreading from Poland to the Balkans, Rumania has levied an additional fabulous tax on Jews, half of which, equalling one-fifth of the whole country’s normal annual revenue, must be paid by the middle of June. All Jews who are unable to subscribe their quota will be forced into labour camps. There are nearly 40,000 already in Rumanian labour camps. Jews in Bulgaria have been driven from Sofia, and many have been told that they will be deported to Poland. •’ , The Premier of Hungary, Dr de Kallay, has just declared that all Jews will ultimately be deported from the country. ■ Reports from Poland, confirmed independently, prove that in many towns the worst fears of a few months ago have been realised. ■. German machine guns and explosives now silent in the Warsaw ghetto after a month of unparalleled murder. The v Cracow ghetto has been emptied. One thousand Jews were murdered, and others sent to concentration camps. A similar number were killed at Lukow. From many other Polish towns come the same reports of murder and the deportation of thousands under unbearable cbnditions. The Russians report thta during the advance last winter they found that Jews almost evei’ywhere had been murdered by the Germans. Russians were murdered in large numbers, but it was exceptional for a Jew to escape.
