Mr C. V. Dayus left yesterday for Wellington. Mr W. Cormack left for Wellington yesterday. Mr G. E. Wright left yesterday for Wellington. Mr W. H. Naylor was a passenger by the through express yesterday eu route to Wellington. At the meeting of the New Zealand Cordial and Carbonated Waters Association in Wellington last week, Mr W. G. Lane, of Dunedin, was elected Dominion president. Professor A, H. Tocker has been appointed rector of Canterbury University College for a term of three years or until such earlier time as a permanent academic head is appointed. The Rt. Rev. J. G. Laughton, moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, is to pay an official visit to Dunedin in July. Mr Laughton is superintendent of Maori Missions in the Presbyterian Church, and is arranging to meet the Maori community in Otago. Passengers who left for the north by the airliner yesterday were Messrs E. A. Duncan, T. A, Moore, and P. G. Cornwall for Christchurch, Mr T. J. Virtue, Dr and Mrs W. J. Barclay, and Mr C. E. Terry for Wellington, and Messrs C. E. Matthews and J. Barber for Auckland. Passengers who arrived by the afternoon plane were Mrs W. James, Misses P. M. Hogg, I. Wilson, and J. Turner from Wellington. Mesdames R. Bullen, L. Child, L. Banks, and D. Cameron and Mr W. Turk from Christchurch.
