WAR PENSIONS
PRINCIPLE OF EQUALITY ALL RANKS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May ». A decision was made to-day by the conference of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association that rank should not be a reason for differentiation in Avar pensions, particularly in regard to the dependents of exsoldiers, though it was felt-that existing rights should not be forfeited. A remit had been sent to the, conference from the Temuka branch—- “ That the principle of differentiation in pension rates between ranks and their dependents should be abolished.” After discussing means of applying the principle of the remit fairly and in conformity with the policy of the association, the conference decided to affirm the principle and leave details to the Dominion Executive. , An increase in the mufti allowance for discharged servicemen and women from the present rate of £l2 10s to £25 was advocated in a remit that was adopted. It Avas agreed that there should be no difference in this respect between those who have served overseas and those who have given home service.
