STATE FUNERAL

DEATH OF MR COATES FULL MILITARY HONOURS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 28. Arrangements for the State funeral with military honours which is to be accorded Mr Coates were announced to-day. A requiem service will be held at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Wellington, at 11 a.m. to-morrow. Archbishop West-Watson, Primate of New Zealand, will come from Christchurch for the service. After the service the casket will be transferred to Parliament Buildings, where it will in state in the entrance lobby until 2 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral procession will leave Parliament Buildings at 3 p.m., and after passing through the northern end of the business area, will halt for 30 seconds before Defence Headquarters as; a tribute to Mr Coates's association with the defence of New Zealand. The special train carrying the casket and the official party will leave Wellington at 4 p.m. The official party will include the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, other Ministers, members of Parliament, and representatives of the Maori race. Members of the family who are coming to Wellington for to-morrow's" service will also travel by the train. On the arrival of the train at Auckland about 8 a.m. on Monday the casket will be taken privately to St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell, where it will lie in state until a requiem service is held at 3 p.m. The funeral procession will leave at 4*, p.m., and after passing through a section of the city, will disperse at the railway station, from where the casket will be taken to Matakohe for the funeral early on Tuesday afternoon. Bishop Simkin will take the graveside service, and there will be two groups of pall-bearers, one consisting of Ministers and members of Parliament and the other of officers of the three services. For the lying-in-state, the lobby of Parliament Buildings has been draped in the same manner as for Mr Massey and Mr Savage, and provision has been made for the placing of wreaths round the casket.
