NOTES FROM INVERCARGILL

(Special) INVERCARGILL, Apl. 30. The course proper at Invercargill has made a marked improvement since yesterday, and if the weather remains fine the going will be good, though not fast, for to-morrow’s racing. . Cruden Bay and Riding Home put in an appearance this morning, and they look none the worse for their racing at Riverton. Riding Home was sprinted over five furlongs on the inside grass, and ran ’ the last half-mile comfortably in 54 2-ssec. It will depend on the state of the going whether Sally Sage fulfils her engagement. If the going is heavy she will not be a starter. . . . Although no definite decision has been arrived at, it is practically certain that Royal Chorus will be reserved for the seven-furlong President’s Handicap. If i he starts in the mile and a-quarter event he will be ridden by L. J. Clutterbuck, while V. Sellars will be on him if he contests the President’s. La Boca and Ballyaggan were schooled over four of the schooling hurdles. La Boca gave an excellent display, but Ballyaggan shaped greenly. ' Bow Street gave a good display of clean and fast jumping over a round of the schooling hurdles, except at the last engagements announced for tomorrow are:—K. Wilson-Platform, Elvena, Boolamskie; C. Low, Gipsy Minstrel Valens; T. J. Boyle. Heidelberg, Noko- K. Forde, Southern Sail; T. Strathern. ’Southern Wave; R. Heasley, True Range. Strip: N. Crombie, Sally Sage. Forte; J. L. Strathern, Anglo-Irish; P. J. Boyle, Colonel Rouge; ” Sellars-Royal Brief. Some Sing, Royal Chorus (if started in President’s); J. Thomson, Crinkle; W. Hillis, Spanish Lad.
