HIGH LEVEL OF MOTE ISSUE (P.A) INVERCARGILL, Apl. 29, The following is a statement of the assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand at the close' of business on April 19 (the figures for the previous return being given in parentheses):— Liabilities.—General Reserve Fund, £1,500,000 (£1,500,000); bank notes, £31,455,287 (£30,833,798); demand liabilities—(a) State, £14.976,684 (£16,031,870). (b) bank £24,688,131 (£23,068,942), (c) other £1,023,258 (£832,252); liabilities in currencies other than New Zealand currency, £12,803 (£13,340); other liabilities, £1,672,238 (£1,668,791);—t0ta1, £75,328,403 (£73,948,995). Assets.—Reserves (a) gold £2,801,877 (£2,801,877), (b) sterling exchange £21,239,770 (£21,380,260); subsidiary coin, £75,202 (£79,602); advances to the State or State undertakings—(l) Marketing Department £7,186,775 (£5,439,207), (2) for. other purposes £31,135,000 (£31,135,000); investments, £10,294,573 (£10,294,577); other assets, £2,595,204 (£2,818,469);—t0ta1, £75,328,403 (£73,948,995). Proportion of reserves to notes and other demand liabilities, 33.307 (34.153 per cent.).
