IDEAL COMBINATION

ALLIED AIR SQUADRONS THE BOMBING OF EUROPE (Rec. 0.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, Apl. 29. “The combination of British night bombing and American day bombing, if carried out on a sufficient scale, is capable of shortening the war in Europe and enabling us to turn our full weight against Japan,” said Air Vice-marshal MacNeece Foster, R.A.F., in an address to the Canadian Club, New York. He added that this ideal combination had been, worked out in raids on Germany in recent months. “ One great need for an effective daylight offensive against Germany," he added, “is more aircraft. I know this fact is equally appreciated both in Washington and London.” The Washington correspondent of the American Associated Press says there is a disposition in Washington to interpret Air Vice-marshal Foster’s remarks as a reply to Australia's plea for a greater allotment of air strength.
