AMERICAN BOMBERS
TARGETS AT NAPLES AND MESSINA (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON. Apl. 29. Allied aircraft of the Middle East Command yesterday bombed objectives at Naples and Messina, key points on the Axis supply line to Tunisia. The attacks were carried out in daylight by a force of American heavy bombers. Direct hits were scored on the ferry terminus at Messina, Sicily, and fires were started in the railway yards. At Naples the docks were heavily bombed. At least four enemy fighters were shot down during the operation. One of the American aircraft did not return.
