Mr W. G. Kindley left for Wellington yesterday. Mr Justice Kennedy will return from the south by the second express to-night. The parents of Able Seaman R. W. Kidd, of Middlemarch, who was one of the personnel of H.M.S. Moa, have received word that he has arrived safely in New Zealand after a hazardous time in the Pacific. Mr J. A. Stallworthy, former New Zealand travelling scholar in obstetrics, has had the honorary degre of M.A. conferred upon him by Oxford University and has been appointed full-time clinical examiner in obstetrics and gynaecology. Military appointments whicli were gazetted last night include the following:— Temporary Major J. L. Grand, New Zealand Scottish Regiment, is to be temporary lieutenant-colonel whilst commanding a battalion. Major F. G. Dill ceases to be seconded to the 2nd N.Z.E.F., and is transferred from the Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles to the North Auckland Regiment with the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Major J. Leggat ceases to be seconded to the 2nd N.Z.E.F. and is reposted to the Hawke’s Bay Regiment with the temporary rank of lieutenantcolonel. Passengers who left for the north by the airliner yesterday were Mrs A. McLennan, Mr D. Carroll, Miss M. Baxter and Miss M. Read for Christchurch, Miss S. Looney, Mr J. S. Poole, Mrs D. Lethbridge, Mr J. S. Little and Mr J. Howley for Wellington. Passengers who arrived by the afternoon plane were Captain Lvda, Mr C. McCarthy and Miss N. Bethell from Wellington, Mr M. Yelas, Miss S. Phillips, Mr J. R. Fairbairn and Mr A J. Pascoe from Christchurch.
