M.T.A. STUDENTS’ CLUB

The Music Teachers’ Association Students' Club held its first meeting for 1943 on Saturday in Begg’s Concert Hall. The following programme was presented: Piano duet, Olive and Ellice Nieper, "Polonaise in A major” (Chopin); piano solos, June McCall, " Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring” (Bach); Marjorie Holdaway, " Last Movement from Sonata in E fiat, Op 31 No 3” (Beethoven); Joan Stewart, " Courante,” “ Sarabande.” and “ Gigue,” from sth French Suite (Bach); Betty Holmes. “ Sonata in D ” (Scarlatti), Gipsy Rondo” (Haydn); Margaret Bachop, "Puck” (Grieg); and Grace Norris, Ecstasy” (Frank Bridge). Songs were contributed by Margaret Hill, " Vocal version of Etude, Ut>. IU. No. 3” (Chopin) “The Cuckoo” (Shaw); Tui Rutherford, two Hebridean songs, "The Crones Song and "The Birlinn of Clanranald ; Jenny Mearns, “To the Evening Star, In Thy Dear Eyes” (Raff); and a violin solo by Glyn Adams, " Cyardas ’ (Monti). The accompanists were Marion Allan and Joy Stewart.
