FAT WETHERS IN DEMAND (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Mar. 16. With the exception of three or four pens of medium and light quality wethers, the large yarding of fat sheep at the Lorneville steok sale to-day was made up entirely of ewes. Values for wethers were firm to 11s better. For freezing ewes competition was keen at values ranging from 13s to 15s 3d, while there was a definite improvement for good quality butchers’ ewes at values ranging from 15s 6d to 19s 6d for good quality young sorts. Fair quality wethers sold up to 33s 6d, and medium 27s 6d to 30s. Extra good fat iambs realised 31s to 33s 6d; good quality freezing lambs, 26s to 27s 3d; medium, 24s 6d to 25s 6d; and light and unfinished, 21s to 235. Compared with the previous week, medium and inferior quality fat . cattle were much easier and values for good quality sorts showed a depreciation of about £1 a head. Prime quality bullocks made £ls to £l6 10s; mediuiri-1 weights, .£l3 15s to £l4 10s; L§ht-weights. £ll 5s to £l2 10s; inferior, £8 to £9 10s. Extra good heifers made £l3 10s; prime medium-weights, £ll to £l2 os, lightweights, £8 15s to £10; small, £6 10s to £7 10s; good quality cows, £9 10s to £lO ss; medium, £7 10s to £8 10s, unfinished, £5 5s to £6 10s; inferior, £4 to £4 15s.
