SOLDIERS FROM OVERSEAS
WARRANTS FOR NEXT-OF-KIN Details concerning the provision of travelling warrants for next-of-kin meeting men on their return from service overseas were given at the meeting of the executive committee of the Dunedin Returned Services’ Association last night by Mr W. K. Cameron, who submitted, the report of the Pensions Committee. ■ Mr Cameron stated that where a soldier patient had a disability attributable to overseas service, and where the medical superintendent was satisfied that the patient was not likely to be removed to a hospital near his home within seven days of-his disembarkation. first-class return rail and steamer tickets might be issued immediately to the next-of-kin. In the case of soldier patients who had not served overseas similar free return travelling warrants might be issued to next-of-kin if and when the soldier had been a patient of the hospital for a continuous period of 28 days. One return journey would be permitted every three months, and in dangerously ill cases at any time.
