ENEMY SHIPS ATTACKED

ENGAGEMENTS, OFF HOLLAND LONDON, Mar. 10.

The Admiralty announces that about midnight last night a light coastal force encountered three enemy patrol craft off the Dutch coast. A sharp gun action followed. One of the enemy ships was left burning and another severely damaged. About an hour later our forces intercepted a large and strongly-escorted tanker. Two torpedo hits were scored on the tanker, which burst into flames. Gunfire inflicted considerable damage on the enemy escorts. One of our vessels failed to return to base, but the remainder suffered only minor casualties and superficial damage.
