SURF LIFE SAVING
CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED GOOD STANDARD REVEALED Seventeen teams participated in the Otago Surf Life-saving Championships at St. Clair yesterday. The high standard of water work which was revealed showed that the clubs are functioning efficiently with their junior and women members. There was rather a cold wind in the latter part of the afternoon, but otherwise the conditions were very good. There was no rip and the surf was not too strong. The following were the results:— Women’s Team of Six Championship.— St. Clair A 1, Balclutha 2, St. Clair B 3. Junior Six-man Championship.—St. Kilda A, 70.4 points, 1; St. Clair, 69.2 points, 2; St. Kilda B. 62.9 points, 3. Women’s Team of Four Championship.— St. Clair B, 63.4 points, 1; St. Clair A, 58.9 points, 2; Balclutha. 55.1 points, 3. Junior Four-man Championship.—St. Kilda B, 71.45 points, 1; St. Kilda A, 71.42 points, 2. Interclub Surf Race.—R. Dowland (St. Clair) 1, R. A. Mcßride (St. Kilda) 2, R. Reay (St. Kilda) 3.
