SOLDIER KILLED

MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 26. A motor cycle accident which resulted in the death of one soldier and injury to another occurred during manoeuvres in the Pahiatua area about 10 a.m. to-day. As a gun tractor was passing over a hill and turning a corner a motor cycle collided with it. The men involved were: Lance-bombardier William Bernard Ayling, aged 20, single (mother, Mrs G. Ayling, Napier), who was seriously injured and died in hospital about 90 minutes later. Gunner H. S. Graham, aged 21 (mother, Mrs M. Graham, Palmerston North), who suffered a' compound fracture of the leg and was taken to hospital. It was reported to-night that his condition was satisfactory.
