CITY RATES

SATISFACTORY PAYMENTS Yesterday was the final day for the payment of the city rates before the imposition of the 10 per cent, penalty, and the result proved most satisfactory. The rates struck for the year 1942-43 totalled £362,866, and the amount so far received is £346,988, or 95.6 per cent. The amount outstanding is £15,878, or 4.4 per cent. The rates struck for the year 1941-42 totalled £342.900, and up to the due date of payment £326,700 was received, or 95.3 per cent. The amount outstanding was £16,200, or 4.7 per cent.
