WIVES OF SERVICEMEN

REPATRIATION TO AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE, (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) Dec. 16. About 250 wives of Australian soldiers, sailors, and airmen who married abroad are still in Britain and the Middle East waiting to be repatriated to Australia. Some of the wives of servicemen have already arrived here.

While the Federal Government stated that it was desirous of postponing repatriation until after the war, because of the difficulty of securing a safe passage, the army authorities are said to be anxious that wives should be repatriated without delay. About 200 of these wives, some of whom have children, are in England.
