PLANS FOR BIG INCREASES

WASHINGTON, (Rec. 10.15 p.m.) Nov. 10 President Roosevelt told a press conference that the United States planned to have roughly 9,700,000 men in the armed services by the end of 1943. Of these, the army is expected to increase from the existing 4.500,000 to 7.500,000, the navy from the present 1.000.000 to 1,500,000. and the marine corps and coastguard from 400,000 to 700,000.

The nation, the President added, nad to find 4,500,000 or 5,000,000 more persons for the fighting forces, and men must be found to take care of the food problem arid industrial production which had not yet reached its peak.
