BIGAMOUS MARRIAGE

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Nov. 9. The finding of the general court .martial which recently considered the charge of bigamy brought against Lieutenant Joseph W.illiam Godfrey. 2nd N.Z.E.P., has been promulgated by the officer convening the court martial, Major-general P. H. Bell The court found the prisoner guilty and sentenced him to be cashiered and to be imprisoned for one year with hard labour.

Godfrey was charged with having committed bigamy at Cairo on July 22 last by marrying a sister of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service while his wife was still alive in Auckland.
