LESS CONFIDENT NOTE
GERMAN HOPES OF VICTORY (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. Nov. 7. For the first time since the war began the Nazi-inspired Swedish newspaper Dagsposten admits that a BritishAmerican victory is not impossible. The journal says that nobody wants to visualise a German collapse, but equally nobody expected in the summer of 1918 that the end of the war was imminent. Optimism may prove delusive, it adds, because in war it is always the unexpected that happens.
