DESERTERS FROM ARMY

COURT MARTIAL SENTENCES (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 9. The following sentences were imposed by a district court martial in a North Island military camp:— Private Ronald James Henry Ramsbottom. who was found guilty on two charges of desertion and one of attempting to escape, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for 18 months. Sapper Colin Vivian Symons, found guilty of desertion, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for 18 months. Gunner Walter Patrick William Con]an. who was found guilty, when on active service, of deserting from his Majesty’s service, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for 18 months. Gunner Albert James Sellars, found guilty, when on active service, of deserting from his Majesty’s service, was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for eight months.
