MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Taieri River Trust was held yesterday. Mr HWilson (chairman) presiding. Crs G. J. Lyall, J. H. Woodcock, C. Findlay, F. Johnson, J. Young, and J. Dow were also present. .... , _, The Minister of Public Works advised that he had approved of an additional subsidy of £2OO (£ for £) for the work of deepening Lee Creek channel, making a total subsidy of £SOO for this work.— Received. , . Messrs G. and J. Home wrote asking that the drain from Kirk's road to Lee Creek be cleaned and that the bridge across Kirk's drain to their property be repaired.—Left to the chairman. Mr John Hamilton wrote regarding the fencing of the contour channel and the cleaning of his drain.—The chairman reported that the first request would be attended to this week, and the second would be done when Lee Creek had been cleaned. Mr R. N. Snow asked for repairs to the culvert on his property.—lt was decided that the work should be done on condition that a fence was erected to protect the drain and culvert. A motion, notice of which had been given, declaring the drain between "A" and "B " drains and running parallel with them to be a schedule drain, was carried. The drain will be known as Doull's drain. The clerk was directed to write to the Minister of National Service asking that drainage board work should be declared an essential industry. It was decided to insert an 18-inch flood gate at Mr Mathieson's, Otokia.
