MOSGIEL BOROUGH

MEETING OF COUNCIL The monthly meeting of the Mosgiel Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor (Mr W. P. Hartstonge) presiding. Crs E. J. Wilson, J. F. McCartney, W. P. Dyer, J. S. Blackie, and T. Gibson were present. Before proceeding with the ordinary business, the Mayor referred to the death of a former borough employee (Mr Alfred Stevenson), and to the death on active service of Messrs G. M. Campbell, G. A. Murray, and E. Pickering. A motion of sympathy, was passed. The Otago Hospital Board, in reply to the council's inquiry, advised that the board bad under consideration the matter of distric* nursing for the whole district.— Received. . „.',--. The secretary of the Mosgiel Sub-branch of the W.W.S.A. wrote thanking the council for the use of rooms and for the help given since the inauguration of the branch in 1941.—Received. The chairman of the Works Committee mentioned that steps had been taken to ience the sides of Gordon road bridge with a view to minimising the risk of young children falling into the bed of the sfream. The . work of cleaning up the Bush road footpath would be undertaken in the near future. The clerk reported that two building permits had been issued during the past month.
