RABBITS IN AUSTRALIA

AN ALARMING INCREASE (Rec. 12.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 7.

Australia is threatened with a rabbit plague in spite of the high prices offered for furs, which are urgently needed for military hat-making. The main reason is slated to be that many expert trappers arc in the army, and so the rabbits are breeding without interference. In South Australia rabbits are reported to be consuming valuable fodder on an alarming scale.
