GENEROUS ACTION

GIFT FROM FIGHTING FRENCH REPRESENTATIVE (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 5. A cheque for £SO has been received by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr D. G. Sullivan, from M, de la Tribouille,

delegate in New Zealand of the French National Committee, London. The cheque represents a personal gift to the New Zealand Patriotic Fund from Rear-admiral G. Theirry d'Argenlieu, High Commissioner for Fighting France. Mr Sullivan, in a letter to M. de la Tribouille acknowledging the gift, says: " Will you please assure Admiral d'Argenlieu how very much I and my colleagues appreciate his very generous act. As you know, his visit to New Zealand was an occasion of particular pleasure to us, affording as it did the opportunity for us to emphasise our support of the cause of Fighting France. I assure you his considerate and generous act will be fully appreciated by all New Zealanders."
