AMERICAN CASUALTIES
ANOTHER LIST ISSUED WASHINGTON, '(Rec. 7.30 p.m.) July 13. The Navy Department has issued its seventh casualty list, which contains the names of 49 dead, 7 wounded, and 212 missing. It covers the period from June 18 to June 30. The total naval casualties have been approximately 12,000 since the attack on Pearl Harbour on December 7. Eleven nurses who were serving in the Manila Bay area prior to the Japanese conquest are listed as missing, although they may have been taken prisoner. Most of the casualties in the latest list were the result of direct action against the enemy, and some were lost in accidents at sea or in the air during active duty. The Navy Department points out that some of the missing men have possibly been rescued at sea and landed on isolated spots, from which they are unable to communicate with the Navy Department.
