WATER AND LAND TRIALS During the past week the Otago Gun Dog Club held an official water trial and a practice land trial. It had been intended that the .latter should be an official trial, but owing to the fact that many of the members were prevented from attending it was decided that the trial should be for practice only. A fine performance was put up by Mr D. A. McLeod's Labrador, Nick, who won the three open events. The resignation of Mr G. Poole, one of the foundation members, who has been transferred to the West Coast, has been received with regret. The results were as follows: Water.—Open: Find, Flush and Retrieve, over Water—Mr D. A. McLeod's Labrador, Nick, 96 points, 1; Mr A. Peake's S.S., Brackenfield Woodnote, 86, 2; Mr G. Poole's Labrador, Black of Casanova, 85, 3. Limit: Two-bird Retrieve, over Water—Mr F. Harty's C.C. Retriver. Toby, 81 points, 1; Mr A. Peake's S.S., Brackenfield Woodnote, 78, 2; Mr J. K. Begg's G. Retriver, Roger of Moatie, 72, 3. Novice: Mr F. Harty's C.C. Retriever, Toby, 92 points, 1; Mr G.
